Regardless, the strong pop sensibilities of Brian Leary & Co. shine throughout. The jangle, the fuzz, and the echo are all still here and used to maximum effect. Sinuous harmonies, hooks, and delirious guitar riffs abound. Touchstones include 'Sell Out'-era Who, Bevis Frond, 'SF Sorrow'-era Pretty Things, Matchstick-era Status Quo, Baxters-era Jefferson Airplane, and even Revolver-era Beatles. And at the same time it manages to sound unlike anything else.

What's become of the baby... I'm not sure why, but when I got this CD, the title immediately made me think of when I was in Junior High and this police officer came to our classroom to Talk About Drugs. The grand finale to his lecture was a charming little anecdote about a couple he had busted that were heavily into marijuana. Apparently, during one big pot-binge, the woman accidentally cooked and served her baby to her husband, had basted it and everything and then stuck it into the oven while it was still alive.
Now, I don't know how many people out there have kids, but unless it was an absolute newborn, there is no way that some kid is going to lie in a basting pan and let you accidentally smear butter all over him or her and then pop the pan in the oven. Babies grab for fingers and hair and skin and hold on damned tight-turkey and chicken carcasses just don't do that. Plus, I've done a lot of crazy stuff in my time, and I have never once been so fucked up that I've accidentally cooked a cat, reptile, or kid-at 27, I'm thinking that this story was a complete fabrication. Why do grown-ups lie to kids so much?
Well, as it happens, this CD has nothing to do with pot binges or eating children, it's just good old-fashioned punk rock. Nothing terribly extraordinary here, but nothing extraordinarily terrible, either.
the drummer couldn't go west coast tour so i did. played with dead moon, fun trip.

All Systems Go 3 is a compilation album by the San Diego, Californiarock band Rocket from the Crypt, released by Vagrant Records and Swami Records August 28, 2008, nearly three years following the band's breakup.[1] It collects songs recorded from 1997 to 2000 on 8-track in the band's practice space. Many of the tracks were previously unreleased and became available for the first time on this album.[1]All Systems Go 3 includes contributions from original drummer Atom Willard as well as Chris Prescott and Tony DiPrima, both of whom filled in after Willard left the group in 1999.[1]
Singer/guitarist John Reis describes the album as "violent, aggressive and thuggish stuff and to me sounds much better now in retrospect than when we originally were recording these demos...Thematically, musically, etc. it's all very period to an undocumented part of the bands history...I really believe if the band was still around, we would make a record at least sonically similar to ASG 3."[1]
The album is the third in the band's series of rarities compilations, the first having been released in 1993 and the second in 1999. A fourth and final installment is being prepared and will consist of a CD/DVD combination package.[1]
